What are you doing when that happens, are you selecting "Main CSS' in the style editor? I don't think that's used any more, I believe you should be editing the CSS templates instead.

you have either not set a default style for your users or you have unticked
all styles so that they are not selectable by your visitors

or you may need to recache you template
