I suspect a huge price drop for DSL internet
 

Google Fiber has a free plan in the works 5MBup/1MBdown. Just a little shy of AT&T's offering of 6MB download/1.5 MB up. Sure the news is a bit old but it's been a while since I've done some research on GFiber.

Also, google has released their plan prices http://fiber.google.com/about/

Only available in Kansas City... don't see it affecting prices outside that region.

It's going to be more than a few years. The infrastructure just isn't there in most cases, shoot San Fransisco isn't even on the "next to get" list and it's Google HQ's back yard.

I will believe it when I see it. It's take Verizon a LONG time to get Fiber Optic around here and then they stopped because it just isn't going to be profitable to them.
