So, with vB5 coming soon, is this an indication that vB4 is done with?
Or is vB5 just an alternative?

It will be done with after vB5 gold is released in a similar fashion that vB3 was done with when vB4 was released.

I have been told there will be a few more vB4.x releases even after vB5 is Gold. If you recall, vB4 was released in December 2009 and then 3.8.7 was released in February 2011 (if I recall correctly), so a bit over a year after 4.0 was released.

That is true .... but IIRC all of those updates contained very few bug fixes and no feature updates.

However it will be nice if major feature and bugfixes continue even after vB5 gold is released.
