Make sidebar contents extend outside the block

I have an HTML block in my sidebar that displays a javascript Google ad. I would like the ad to ignore the sidebar's padding area and borders and be displayed in front of the sidebar's chrome area instead of being cut off by it. Is it possible via inline css?
