Promote to Article problem

HI folks, hope someone can help me out.
I am running a forum sidebar (using the everywhere sidebar mod) and I have a couple of blocks that pull the latest threads from a couple of different forums (one per block).
The problem is as soon as I promote a thread to article the thread will no loner show in the sidebar block. I was running 4.1.12 and just updated to 4.2 and still have the same problem.

I am at the end of my tether with this now. Threads show fine in the blocks its ony upon promotion they disappear

What options are you setting on the Promote to Article page? (all of them, please - a screencap is fine)

HI Lyn,
I forgot to say I have been using the 'Use original Thread for Comments' mod. I have tried the inbuilt one but got the same result (after uninstalling the mod to avoid clashes).

I have for clarity disabled the mod again and just tried to promote to article and same thing happens. the settings I used are:

Keep original thread? Yes
Move to comments forum? No
All Comments? yes

Once you promote a thread to an article, it is no longer a thread, it is a *comment* thread associated with the article. So, threads and posts in it will no longer show up in any new thread/post type widgets.

kind of makes sense I guess, I dont suppose you know of a way around it then? At present I am having to create a new article duplicating the content in order to keep the thread in my forum block widget but that obviously creates two sets of content and seperate comments.

I did used to run the advanced forum statistics mod and that would continue to show the original thread even after promotion so I guess theres a way somehow, just maybe not an easy one!
