Spammer posts despite all measures taken
 

My forum (with the latest updates) gets spammed in a matter of minutes regardless of all the restrictions that I put in place. I have email confirmation set yet despite the obviously faked emails, all sorts of bots manage to register and spam the forum. I added special Questions/Answers as method of verification for human vs bot yet they register and post without problems. I know it is a bot and it cannot possibly answer the question. They must use some bug in vBulletin that allows them to bypass the verification system.

I cannot possibly continue using this forum software as all the spam brings down the reputation of my site.

Any suggestions?

I used to use Spam-O-Matic but it was preventing real people from registering...it is excellent though

You could also use the http://www.stopforumspam.com/ API too...

Thank you, I have just installed VSa - Advanced Registration and enabled the "Random questions" option. I will see now if it makes any difference.

Can you feedback if it worked well for you? Has it helped prevent?
