Changing /upload to /forums?
 
I accidentally installed vbulletin with my folder as public_html/upload

Now my forums are located at mywebsite/upload

If I change the folder in ftp and also the forum location in admin to forums I can get it working. However I can no longer access anything in the admin panel.

I keep getting errors cannot connect. Everything there is still /upload/admin/... etc. etc.
How can I change them to forums/ as well?

Is the only way to reinstall?

After the change, did you try to use tools.php to reset & clear your browser cache/cookies?

Shouldnt need to change anything but the site url in the admincp & the folder name.
