Site dispute

I paid for a vbulletin licence for a site I am co admining. The other admin owns the hosting and agreed to pay me back for my licence and had a payment plan in place of which a 3rd has been paid and nothing for a couple of months.

Since then a dispute has happened and my FTP and Cpanel access removed. How do I go about removing Vbulletin from that site and transferring it to a new site of my own?

Would I need to take it further with VB customer services or legal action?

Thanks in advance.

Go to members area and remove the site URL from there add ur new one then report the site for no licence they will get in touch with the host and will get it closed down

I have done that from the members area. Will I have to wait till the other site has been shut down before I can install my vb on to my new site?

Want to do everything by the book here.

this is a license specific question, and you only have to go here: http://members.vbulletin.com/members...ontactform.php to have official support, and official answers...

vbenhancer is correct, this is a matter for vbulletin.com support, not vbulletin.org - the modification site of vbulletin.

Legal action? Feel free to call/consult with your attorney if you feel it warrants that, no one here or on vbulletin.com will give you legal advice, no one is qualified to do so.

Realistically reporting the site for piracy it may takes weeks or longer to shut down. It is a slow bureaucratic process unfortunately.

You would be far better off if you can reason with them.

If you still have admin access to the forum you could create a plugin that would take them offline- but only long enough until they figure out how to disable hooks in their config.php file.

But if you want to try go to the Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager and create a new plugin on the hook init_startup, product: vbulletin, execution order 1, title - whatever you want- and PHP code simply:

Code:

die("Witty message here");
Set active to YES and SAVE. The site should pretty much die until they figure out how to fix it.

Thanks for all the replies.

I have now taken it up with Vbulletin support and they are talking to the host about removing it from there.

In the meantime I have closed the site and demoted the co-admin, so they have no access to the site. They have no choice now but to pay up or remove the software.

Scorched earth policy eh?

Have implemented it and works brilliantly. Now to sit and wait and see what the VB anti piracy people say on this. The owner of the hosting is ignoring my emails so its quite clear hes not intending on removing this.

If it comes down to Vbulletin having his hosting account closed then so be it.

Site has been removed, I have my licence back.

Thread can be closed now if required. Thanks for all your help.
