New domain but database is on same hosting account and server

I have a forum that I would like to move to a new domain address. I have hosted the new domain address with the same server and account.

Is it okay to just copy all vbulletin files over to the new domain and keep the database that the forum is already on?

I didn't see any documentation on this I only read directions that refer to switching hosts and moving to a new server.

If I can do this it would be much more simple. Just wasn't sure if this is okay or if it's necessary to make a new database and move it all.

Thank you in advance for any help!

No because the database has to be server local. You can't MySQL connect to just anyone's database if you knew their host, port, username and password. That would be a dream for Hackers and a MAJOR security issue

Instead. Export the old database. Then import it to a new Database on the New Server and fill out the config file with the new database info.

All I have done is change my domain name. My database is hosted on the same server. It's not a new server. You are saying I can't use the same database? It's only the url/domain that has changed. The database is server local.

I have read that others just moved their vbulletin files over to the new domain. Can I do this? Or is it necessary to move databases too?

I would like to know this too. I need to move a vBulletin database from one domain to another on the SAME HOST. So same hosting details, etc, for database, nothing there will change, just the domain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx
