Usergroup promotions by Thread Counts...
 

Hello all,

I know there's group promotions by post counts, but anyone can just randomly post whatever amounts of crappy posts to get raised up to another level / promotion without really posting anything constructive at all. But I was wondering if there's a way to make it by Thread count?

Like, if running a photo gallery type forum... you'd like registered users to contribute to the general social sections first, by posting a few threads, then once they've done that, they could be raised / promoted to another usergroup which allows them to the galleries of photos... Is this possible, or could it be made possible by plugin/modification? Thanks.

I just seen this plugin, this might work... They can't enter a forum, unless having "X thread count" or "X post count" or whatever..

Anyone? Turns out that modification is paid for all those features, and I have no way to pay for it. :( Why isn't this done by default inside vbulletin software..? Because raising users by promotions for posting more threads, helps activity as well.

It isn't done in default software because vB doesn't really keep track of thread count. A query needs to be run anytime you want a users threadcount, whereas the post count is actually saved as a field in the database and is accessible if you've already gotten the user data.

Ahh, I guess that makes sense then. But it sucks when people like that guy charge for that modification, and then some people like me can't pay for it, because of being perma limited with PayPal, and then PayPal don't take certain credit/debit cards.. >_<... Now I'm screwed again. :(

Well, you can learn how to code. That's what I had to do in order to run my site the way I wanted. :)

lol! yeah, but I don't have time for learning anything. I don't have time in general, I'm crunched for time and getting things done today/now... and hopefully launching new site so money rolls in again. the longer the forums are "offline" till things are done, the longer it is for money to roll in.. >.<
