Slim Collapsed Forums

1 Attachment(s)
This mod is designed to remove the excess padding from collapsed forum categories on the homepage. This is helpful if your forum has many top-level categories that are not applicable to the majority of members.

How it Works:
The plugin inserts a small JavaScript function into the page. This function hooks into the vB_XHTML_Ready event in the vB JavaScript Core, adding an additional class to collapsed forum categories on the homepage when fired. This class is linked to a new css style rule, which is applied to the affected categories. By default both a "html5" and cross-browser version of the function are sent from the server, so newer browsers can take advantage of a more efficient algorithm whilst still working on older browsers.

Customisable:
  • Disable legacy browser support to reduce script size.
  • Fully phrased for quick translation

Installation:
  1. Product only, upload in the AdminCP plugin manager and you're done!

Support:
Zero.

Sounds interesting ... thank you .. :)

If anyone here gets working for vBulletin 4.1.3, a post indicating that would be appreciated ...

I'm a little reluctant to try it on our live forums ... :p

Thanks...

Regards,
Doug

I don't have a forum below 4.2.0 to test on, so I set that as a dependency. If you want, you can remove that dependency from within AdminCP by going to the product manager, clicking go alongside the edit dropdown and selecting the delete checkbox beside the vBulletin row. Really, there's no reason why it then shouldn't work, but I decided to err on the side of caution and mark it as 4.2.x. If anyone can confirm it works on versions below that I'll lower the dependency and patch the script :)

If you're running 4.2.0 or greater then the plugin should start enabled, options are included in the AdminCP > vBulletin Options towards the bottom of the list (see screenshot). Otherwise, if you're yet to update to 4.2.x, you need to remove the vBulletin 4.2 dependency:

Very nice plugin, I like the idea. A fine first release :)

Is there a Demo/Screen shot of this somewhere?
