Group Buy thread modification?
 

Many forums out there typically have members/vendors who try to organize a "group buy" in order to get better pricing on a product from a particular source. The more people who sign up, the better the pricing for all those participating in the group buy. These threads are very popular. The problem is, the thread format can make it difficult to follow the status of the group buy and it isn't always easy for the thread author to manage it.

My thought on this is to create a hack that is similar to a Poll. Actually, there was a hack a while back called Event Forums that did something like this too. The thread would just need a couple more options, like status, date closing, estimated ship date, etc. Then people would be able to add their name to the list to commit to the group buy, sort of like some of the RSVP hacks available. You'd want all the typical sharing options, subscription, likes, etc. And I would need it for 3.8.

I think this would be a good modification for someone to do as a free hack and then an upgraded free version. Most all of the automotive forums out there would use it, and I'm sure countless other communities would benefit from it as well.
