How to make registration page pop up when a non registered user clicks on a thread?

Hey guys,

This may be an easy thing to do but I can not figure it out for the life of me. I want unregistered users to be able to see a list of threads, but when they go to click on the thread to read the posts inside it, it tells them that they must register in order to proceed into the thread. How would I go about setting that up? Does that make sense?
