'Reply to thread' button not working?

Anybody else had this problem? I set up my forum yesterday, and the 'reply to thread' button doesn't work (or at least, it doesn't work the way I'd like it to).

What I want it to do is to open the advanced reply/post box. And it does this, perhaps one time in eight. What it usually does, though, is to drop a cursor into the 'Quick Reply' box.

The Quick reply button and box works, the 'reply' and 'reply with quote' buttons at the bottom of each post work, its just the 'reply to thread' button which doesn't seem to do what I think it should. Obviously, people can just hit the 'go advanced' button under the 'quick reply' box (which works perfectly). I'd rather they had the choice though.

Any advice appreciated :)

It's working like it should. The button should bring you to the quick reply box, but it also connects to the server (something about formatting quotes, but it seems to do it even if you aren't quoting anything), and if there's a problem like the server doesn't reply in time or something, then it takes you to the full reply page.

If you want to can disable quick reply altogether. I think you can also force the buttons to go to the full reply page by editing the SHOWTHREAD template. Search for id="newreplylink_top" and remove it, and do the same for id="newreplylink_bottom".

Thanks for that, I did wonder if it might be intentional!

This has worked perfectly for the 'Reply to thread' button at the top of each thread, but it removed the button from the bottom of the threads (which is the one most people are going to want to use). Very odd. Not sure why it wouldn't work for the bottom one.

It works for on both buttons (I have vb4.2.0) - maybe check again and make sure you didn't remove an extra '>' or something.
