Installing Security Patch

This may sound bit silly! :p

But being new to vBulletin i don't know to install the security patches!

Where should i upload and replace the files?

CPanel?

If so where are the files?

I use vB 4.1.7

In your case it would be better to do a full upgrade to the latest version. To upload the files you can use a ftp client or you can also upload them through the File Manager section in the cp of your host, providing it has one.

Do not forget to make a backup of your database before you upgrade your forum. For just in case things don''t go as planned you can always roll back.

There is no need for that. You should upload them inside the folder that holds your vb forum files maintaining the structure intact. i.e. overwrite your forum files.

Here is the best link to get familiar with upgrade process ... I always followed the video tutorial link. Watch the video link in this thread.

Its very easy after following directions in this thread. Always make backup before you run upgrade.

If you have installed vb in the root, i.e. www.yoursite.com then the forum files are in the root of the /public_html/ folder, or /www/ folder in your server space.

If you have installed vb in some folder, say for example, www.yoursite.com/forum then the vb files are inside the /forum/ folder in your server space. Hope it helps.
