3.8.7 PL3 versus 3.8.5
I am running a pretty heavily modified site, at 3.8.5
I have no interest in going to vb4 - I tried that a while back and reverted. Question: should I stick with 3.8.5 or is there some benefit to going to 3.8.7 PL3? I trust that whatever modifications I have running will stay running on 3.8.7 PL3? Off the top of my head - vbseo, itrader, vbseo, vbAnonymizer, Mood, Miserable Users, Post Thank You hack, External Link Titles, Cyb - Advanced Forum Statistics, Google Adsense. I have even the navbar code slightly rewritten and I'm getting a headache thinking of the little things I will have to do after I upgrade even these two notches to 3.8.7 PL3, so I want to make sure it will be worth it. |
Yes, it would be best, security wise, to upgrade to the latest version of the 3.8x series. I think that almost all mods should work without any issue with 3.8.7 pl3 as well.

3.8.7 is same thing as 3.8.5. It's just contain several bug fixes. It's a good idea to upgrade because there are some security fixes too. Not sure if everything will work though, you should back up everything first and then do the try.
