Soft-Delete Message Missing?

Hey,

I always thought if you ever soft-deleted a message it would then say something on the lines of "This message has been soft-deleted" but now it just leaves the post blank. I think this may of happened during the upgrade but I'm not quite sure how to get it back. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean by "leaves the post blank". Normally there'd be a deletion notice if your usergroup has permission to see them. Are you saying that's not there at all, or it's there but doesn't have the "This post was deleted" message?

When I mean blank, I mean there is no content in the post. It's just whiteness or whatever the colour of the skin is. The message "This post was deleted" is not there.

You could try going to Languages & Phrases > Search in Phrases and search for "This message has been deleted" and make sure the phrase exists.

There is this:

$vbphrase[message_deleted_by_x]

This message has been deleted by <a href="{1}">{2}</a>.

I suppose you could also look at the postbit_deleted template and make sure it's there (although I don't know why it wouldn't be).

You said it works on the default skin - is that a completely unmodifed style? Try creating a new style with no parent and see if that works.

Also, you could eliminate the possibility that it's a problem with a mod by temporarily disabling all plugins. You can do that by editing your includes/config.php file and inserting:

Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

at the top just under the <?php line.
