Converting from smf to vb, redirect question.

Hey guys I just purchased Vbulletin this morning and Im trying to figure out a couple important things before I convert my smf 2.0 forum over. I have already praticed converting the database with impex and using a couple variables or whatever to change img tags and quote tags and stuff, all seems well. My question is I want to redirect all or as many smf topics to the new vbulletin topic, I know that vbulletin restructures the urls. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it, and if you could explain it like you would to a noob that can only copy and paste code :D Thanks

EDIT: Okay Ive been reading a lot about the 404 and 301 script but the threads are very old and Im not sure if that works with 4.1.12 or not. I looked in my impex download and I dont see a 404 file or a 404 readme or anything in the impex zip. I read in the impex manual that impex will redirect impoted ids to the new board id but a 301/404 must be set up. Does that mean the current impex automatically redirects the old smf 2.0 url structure to the new vbulletin structure? And how would I set up this 301/404 page? Im really confused, all the info I seem to find is old and seems to conflict a little with others.

Okay this is what I found and it seems to be working great. I went to the link below. I used the script filled in all my server and url infor then instead of naming it vbseo301.php I renamed it to 404.php because I dont have vbseo. I then saved it in the root of my server. Just fyi my forum is in a sub-folder but I guess that doesnt matter. Then in the htaccess in root, I used the smf code also found in link below and changed vbseo301 to 404, there is 4 places in the smf htaccess code that need changed to that.
