Database help

Ok I'm pretty sure this can go here?

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2012/05/30.jpg

My problem is that I need to export 'vb3' (My current database) but it's not in .sql format on my server.

It's a folder containing a load of tables;

I can't access my site as I'm in recovery mode on my server, so phpmyadmin etc is out of the question.

I've already got a backup of my files, and I'm having my server reinstalled so I just need to know how I can safely backup this database for use on the new installation.

Can I just download the folder and upload it to the same directory on the new installation?

Preferably I'd like to have the database in a .sql format.

I don't know the answer about whether or not just copying those files would do it. But do you have access to the command line? Here's one page I found while doing a search for "mysql backup via command line": http://www.iis-aid.com/articles/how_...m_command_line

Yeah I know how to do that but I get various errors, I was just wondering if there is like an application on windows/mac that will allow me to convert this folder to .sql

From what i understand you have to create your vb4 installation, including database, make sure the database is the same name as the one you have then import your downloaded database in to it, it's not just a straight swap as vb4 has more tables and columns.

Have you asked at vbulletin how to do this?, i believe you could use impex.

You misunderstand, ignore the vb4 folder, I'm not longer using vb4, I downgraded my database to vb3 via Impex and it worked perfectly.

There were some problems with the server so I had to grab all of my files via SFTP including the database in raw format (the folder)

I'm trying to use that folder on my new server, I'm getting a database error however, as phpmyadmin sees the tables, but they are empty.

whats the databse error? if you are using the folder for the exact same url then you shouldn't have any issues.

Edit: the sql table/info i believe is held outside of the forum folder and above public_html

Still getting errors;

Phymyadmin;

#1017 - Can't find file: './db0/word.frm' (errno: 13)

(db0 being database name)

I'm getting these errors despite the file existing;

Ok that was moronic on my half, it was down to chmod settings, phpmyadmin now lists the tables and contents, but I still get a database error on my site, should the database folder within mysql be 755 or 644?

No idea on the chmod but what is the total file size of your database files? the 9.4kb I'm seeing on that screenshot isn't remotely close to the size needed to be holding your VB data.

That screenshot just shows the database folder name (db0) and the first table starting in reverse order (Word.MYI/MYD/frm)

The actual database is ~400MB
