forum not remembering usernames and passwords ...

The forum is not logging us automatically like other forums, like this forum also, we use 'remember me' but its just not remembering. The forum is drifting.bg/forum if it matters, its alot modified to be implemented into wordpress, but the code is not changed, only moved some elements, like the login panel etc ... the coocies path was set to / and to /forum/ without effect ... now its set to / ... the problem is not in the browser or something like that ... its forum problem, because its for every user, and no matter opera, mozilla, chrome or IE is used. I think its because of the theme modifying ... but i read the code and i cant find a problem ... we was thinking to upgrade to 4.12, but i am scared to lose our work, i dont know what happens when upgrade, do i loose all my changes on the forum files like header, footer, css files ...

If you allow users to login to your site via both http://www.yoursite.com and just yoursite.com., then you MUST have your cookie domain (AdminCP > Settings > Options > Cookies and HTTP Header Options > Cookie Domain) set to ".yoursite.com" (no quotes, but note the period at the beginning) or your users will have problems. Also, make sure to tell your users to click the Remember Me button when they login.

but my forum domain is not forums.drifting.bg but drifting.bg/forum/ so do i need this with the dot? also, do i need to enter .drifting.bg/forum/ or just .drifting.bg ... because in drifting.bg/ i have the wordpress, and it also has a login ... and about the remember me, they know they have to use it if they want to stay logged in ... i also use this, for this forum it works ok, but in our forum its not working ... i will try what you suggest and write again

Since I can access your forum via both http://www.drifting.bg/forum/ and http://drifting.bg/forum/, then yes, you definitely need the dot.

A.Dutsov 04-17-2012 11:23 AM

i did it with dot, its the same, so now i am ready to pay you, if you are interested, to investigate my problem and solve it ... i tried all possible solutions, and i think we messed something up, because we changed the possition of the login panel, and also modified the theme alot to suit our needs, but now we cant find the problem, and i think we need help from somebody who can investigate from where the problem comes ... so if somebody here is interested, please email me at a d u t s o v @ d f a c t o r y . b g i can pay with paypal. But please everybody willing to help me, first to write something here, so i can check his "name" and then to send me email, and tel me his nickname from the forum, because i am not going to give access to our board to somebody without reputation and name.

I added .drifting.bg/forum/ to custom cookie domain settings, and made the cookie path to /forum/ , the settings are:
Session Timeout: 900 (default)
Path to save cookies: /forum/
Cookie domain - suggested settings - blank (default)
custom settings .drifting.bg/forum/ (tried also .drifting.bg - also not working)
all other settings are standard - yes, 1, no, no, yes, no (default settings)
vbulletin version is 4.11

I know you said you tried both of these above, but just in case you didn't try all combinations, did you try:

Path to save cookies: /
Cookie domain: .drifting.bg

Did you change anything about the way login works (like for instance are you doing it from an "external" page?

A.Dutsov 04-17-2012 01:47 PM

at the moment its like that, and its not working, we didnt changed anything else than the login possition ... just changed the login place ... only the remember me is not working ...

Could you provide a test account? (I could try to register but I can't read whatever language that is :) ) ETA: I see now that you have English as well.

Also, make sure you clear your cookies for your site when you change them before you try logging in again.

(And in case you lock yourself out, upload the tools.php file from your do_not_upload directory into your /admincp and run it to reset your cookie domain.)

i locled myself once, and i unlocked it from the database directly, its not a problem, but i did everything few times, cleared cookies from my browsers, tried from 4 different computers, i also tried to change the bb to vb and did all things again ... as suggested on vbulletin.com forum ... its just not working ... when i close my browser, and then open it again, it prompts me again for user and password ...
