How do I add ads and get paid?

I see all sites these days have ads

How do I get started on this?

How to place these ads and get paid? Where do I even start from as to finding the people who want to place an ad on my site and such

I am a total n00bie in this area

Check out Google Adsense as it seems the best out there.Easy sign up but you do need to be aware of there strict policys.
also there is the inbuilt Skimlinks within Vbulletin
and also Adbrite is worth trying too
