Attachment Display

When a user hits the "Insert Image" button, and uploads files, it adds [ATTACH] tags around it.. thus preventing it showing up in the "Attachment" box where I've limited it to 5 images per row.

Is there is way to remove that so that no matter how they attach/upload images to my forum, it'll always be posted in the Attachment box (where is says "Attached Thumbnails")

As I've noticed that if I simply edit the post, and remove all [ATTACH] #no here [;/ATTACH] tags, it displays it the way I want..

I run version 4.1.11
If you need me to elaborate then I'll do so.
Many thanks

what do you have set for AdminCP > Settings > Options > message attachment options > view attached images inline ?

Irishnotsane 04-08-2012 04:38 PM

It's set at "Yes, display thumbnails"

However I assume if I do this then the mod "Thread Thumbnails" won't work

I have no idea what modification you are talking about.

If you are not seeing the thumbnails, perhaps they need to be rebuilt in Maintenance > General Update Tools > Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails

Nono, I can see thumbnails fine.
I'll show you a preview of what a mean:

When a member at my forum uploads attachment via "Manage Attachment" button displayed on Advanced Edit or New Thread, it comes out like this:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1333912941

However, when a member used thge "Insert Image" BBCode it comes out like this:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...1&d=1333912941

This causes attachments to not inherit the 5 images per row setting I set up in vB options, so it makes my forum look messy when users post a load of attachments

Is there a way to disable users from posting attachments inline so that it forces them to post it in the "Attachment Thumbnails" box, so that it's limited to 5 images per row like I set up in my vBoptions.

You could set AdminCP > Settings > Options > message attachment options > view attached images inline to No, but that will just mean they aren't shown inline. I can't think of how you can remove the option to put them inline. There is no option to disallow a user to use the [ATTACH] bbcode if they are allowed to upload attachments.

Irishnotsane 04-09-2012 01:48 PM

Ah, see then when someone posts attachments via "Insert an Image" it only displays the name of the file uploaded.

Is there not a MOD or edit that adds the option of...

... >> View Attached Images Inline >> Yes, display in attachment box

Is it even remotely possible?
Thanks for your replies by the way Lynne!

I have no idea if there is a mod. You may try a search on "attachment*" or "image*" or similar in the Mods forums for one.

I don't know of a good way for you to do this, sorry.
