Feedback Wanted For P8i.com

P8i.com is my video game/technology forum. It's currently running vBulletin 3.6.8. I created the graphics and did all of the editing myself. Some feedback on the overall design would be much appreciated.

The style overall is nice I think. It's not very custom though, having only a few subtle changes from the default vB 3.x skin. You also say, "I created the graphics..." but there aren't veryy many custom images = default forum index icons, default buttons, in fact all images look default. So not much change from the default skin at all really, except for the logo, which IMO has no specific brandable identity.

Additionally - I'd advise you to upgrade to the most secure vB 3.x version ==> 3.8.7 PL2 ;)

Whatever the case may be = Good luck with the site.

J.

I was mainly referring to the textured background and the logo. Also, I stylized the 'Page Background' area, gave it a subtle inner glow, lowered the opacity, and made it inset. There's also a slight texture on each category strip, but that's not a big deal. I plan to redo the icons next. As for the logo, I'd like to work with Illustrator and create some sort of special insignia.

And thanks. :)

I like the site. Like the above poster stated, not much was changed, but I think its very easy flowing and easy to read. Get some good material on the site, and I think it will be a hit.

I've made many changes to P8i since posting this. Please check it out again and let me know what you think. :)

Edit: Would you say the logo's brandable now, Jacquii?

I like the new site a lot better! The logo is very unique and looks great. Only thing I would say, is make the forums area more branded to your site. For instance, make the icons video game related, etc.

Thank you, Dano. It took me awhile to come up with. I made at least 10 different versions before I settled on that one.

I think that's a good suggestion. Coincidentally, I just created a 'video game' icon and a 'technology' icon for another project. Maybe I'll use those.

When I view a thread, the twiiter, FB and RSS icons are on the far top right, the header looks nice but you need to remove the default look from the forumbit. Also remove the "New Posts" and "No New Posts" icons on the forum display.

Good luck!

Thanks. The reason that's happening is because my header code isn't in the universal 'Header' template. In order to get the transparent 'Page Background' to display like I wanted it to, I 'had' to remove all of the code from the 'Header' template and add it manually to every other template. I just need to add my updated code to the 'showthread' section.

Need to bring out the text for the copyright. A gray perhaps...
Most of it is dark while the forum rows are stark white. It's rough on the eyes to look at that for long.
