Redirect a user to read a PM upon registering?
 

I send all my new registered users a automated PM which has a nice welcome message and links to 'introduce themselves' and links for 'how to' articles.

The 'notification' for a new PM is pretty poor a tiny '1' up in the top right corner isn't particularly obvious.

Is there a way to redirect a new user once registered directly to this PM in their inbox (I don't require email verification' and would there be any cons in doing so?

I don't know if there's a mod for what you want, but there's this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=267180 that makes notices a lot more visible. You could probably modify it if you only want it for that first PM.

There's also this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=186886 . I don't think the private message page is on of the options but it probably wouldn't be difficult to add it as one. Edit: actually this ones for vb3 so I'm not sure if it works with vb4 but you could try it.

They both could do what I want if they had user group permissions attached to them or would obey a rule of only 'doing' it once.

Shame I have no coding experience LOL.
