Need suggestion for vb3.8 to vb4

I am using vb 3.8 and i want to upgrade it to latest vb 4 what should i do. and what are the major steps to take that my previous data should not lost?

First, you should have a back-up just in case anythings happen. So make that first.
I use 4.1.5, but I like using 3.8 because of the notifications style.

Thanks for your reply. I ma too confused in that should i move to vb 4 or not. my forum was going fine but the day when i installed vbseo its got down and too down now giving more then 7000 links in webmaster-tools which are dead i m much worried for that what should i do should i go to vb4 and do all again or what.
