Problem with VB CMS

Hi Sorry I am a complete numpty and don't understand anything about vBulletin and rely on other people to help me with my forum so pse be kind.

I have for several years been involved with a VB forum starting with 2.x and gradually upgrading to 4.x.

We have just installed the new VB CMS and had to reverse engineer it, setting up the new CMS with a dummy forum and then importing our old forum into the new system (I believe we had to do this because you apparently can't simply bolt the CMS onto the old forums).

Anyway since we have done this all our internal links are messed up (eg "This question has already been answered see this post .....) The links no longer work because the format of the urls has changed.

Is there any way to sort this or is it a matter of manually going through gazillions of old posts and altering the urls to the new format?

Sorry if this sounds stupid. I am not a technie, just the licence holder, and am asking on behalf of someone else.

Can you give us an example of what a non-working link loos like, and what the working link would look like?

The link in the post at the bottom of this thread works

The link in the post at the bottom of this thread (created before the move) doesn't (returns as page not found and takes you back to forum home page)

Also, since the move users seem to come in two types - active users (ie normal) and those with the same names set to Guest

(see post about stock market above and compare users with those in this thread)

It's like they've all been deleted and reinstated or something - eek! but also seems to be random so not sure what is going on.

All help most gratefully received.

The links at the first two threads you linked to both seemed to work (in fact they seem like two links to the same page).

I guess you probably did something that messed up the userids, but I don't know much about importing to existing forums.
