Forum displaying small on tablets

I upgraded from 1.09 to 1.10 recently and my users are complaining that when viewing the forums with a tablet it does not display full screen but a small column on the left.

It can be resized but each page needs to be resized.

Can it be disabled or what are others doing to have the page display full size on tablets?
