Wondering if anyone has used their services at http://www.maxcdn.com to increase server page times. Like to get some feed back before I move forward

Odd they have no free service level like Cloudflare.

Cloudflare isn't a true CDN, but acts more like an "advance proxy" in the since that it will pre-fetch your static content and add "buffer" between your site and your users.

MaxCDN to my knowledge, you actually can upload content directly to them.

I'm not any kind of network expert. But how do these differ? In either case the cdn has copies of your material; in both cases they were up/downloaded. In both cases they're served from someone else's server.

Best way I can explain it

Normal site:

YOU > ISP > DNS > website

Cloudflare:

YOU > ISP > DNS > Cloudflare > DNS > website + CDN content (and respecting dns)

Normal CDN:

YOU > ISP > DNS > website + CDN content (and respecting dns)

Yes we are using MAXCDN with Vbulletin and VBSEO, works pretty good except for the issue that is not resolvable at the moment because CDN's cant access restricted usergroup sections so all is being cached via CDN except for attachments which kinda stinks

any way to get this to work without vbseo? that kinda sucks, i don't want to install that

I'm having good luck with MaxCDN. I wouldn't say performance exploded, but it's well worth the $40 a year I pay to have my css, js, and images uploaded to their thing. It's all automatic after the install.

Without vbseo I've not tried it, but that's on my list today as I just switched to dbseo. Here's a super quick method to utilize a CDN in vbulletin. http://www.cdn4cms.com/vbulletin-cdn...ment-variable/
