Can I get my site back anyway?

Quick question.

I sold a site awhile back. Home page was wordpress and the forum was vBulletin. I am still an administrator on both pages. I think the guy bought the site from me, to plug his other site one time via the wordpress (PR 2 at the time of sale) and then abandoned it. This wouldn't be an issue but he never completed payment as he agreed to.

It's a very small site but still has 4-5 posters.

Is there anyway I can move the forum off of the site without having FTP/MySQL access? Can I get the forum onto a new domain, I have FULL vBulletin access.

Talking to the host is your first step, but I wouldn't count on anything coming from that. Since the account is in his name, he will have to do it for you. have you contacted vBulletin about it and see what they say about who legally owns the license?

Did you transfer the license to his name? If so, it's his.

If you didn't, then before you may use the license on another site, you need to get the files removed from his site. You will need to contact him or the host to get that done.

This means that he has control over the license now. Unless he does not have the license number/member login to vbulletin.com

if you have admin login
you can generate database backup from admincp then download :D CMIIW

He must also be a license holder to restore the database on another vbulletin site. However, converting it to free different software like phpbb is still an option too.
