Why does this forum use vbulletin 3

Just a recurring thought I have,. I moved from phpBB recently to vbulletin 4. Should I be using vbulletin 3? is it better, I find it strange that the official mod forum for Vbulletin does not use the latest software...makes me think 4 is crap and not worth the upgrade tbh.. They didnt use phpBB 2 on the phpBB mod site ....

Because there's no compelling reason to do so. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Q8. Why does vBulletin.org not use the latest version of vB?

A8. Lynne made this post in a locked thread stating why. Asking this question will just result in a thread lock and the following reason being supplied:

The question about whether vb.org will be upgraded or why we have not upgraded has been asked and answered over and over again. Please do a search. The answer is actually very simple - the site works just fine as is, so we don't feel the need to upgrade it.

Fair enough, just something i find strange..

I never really noticed that...lol Kinda seems counter productive to use older version of your product to sell the newer version. I'm sure if I did the search of the other threads I would read the same thing.

They're not trying to sell anything here. Merely helping out with what's already been sold.

Because they can? ;)

Because Paul M has made some excellent changes here, compiled them into one large plugin and goodness sake I don't want to ask him to work harder... he's already a Admin here, a Admin on other sites from what I remember and as of a few months back he is on staff for vBulletin itself sorting bugs out... you can ask him but I'm not :p. No but seriously, my kidding aside, it runs fine as we can all note and it will be updated when Paul and Lynne feel it's best, Paul does remind me of different ways you can perceive something on occasion which more than often are more logical than my own though process so I take his words to heart.. if he says it's not needed then I trust his word hands down and so should many if not all of you!

Edit: Don't tell him I said all that... I don't think he knows that I like him that much and we don't want him getting a big head now do we?

Did you ever notice how Boofo comes first in the likes? Right where I belong.

I don't buy it. It appears the product is untrustworthy to use on a large forum if the developer does not use it. IMHO I think you should always use your latest product. Just my two cents.
