Creating Notifications For Visitor Messages?
 

Hello I'd like to know how I can create notifications for visitor messages. Basically what I want is when someone on your friend list posts a visitor message on their message wall you get a notification that a message has been posted. And I wonder if it would be possible to have it where it could be turned off by the member in the profile somewhere. I've run into a situation where if i post on someone's wall and they answer me on their wall I do not know they answered and have to go back and look at each one to see if they answered. It would be much easier if the system gave a notification instead.

I'm running vB 4.13 BTW.

I'm not sure what you're asking - I get notifications for visitor messages. In fact there may be some way to turn it off but I can't find it. Do you mean email notifications?

I mean let's say that I'm on another member's profile, I post a visitor message on their profile. Then if they reply back to me on their profile I do not get a notification of their reply. Is there a way to get a notification for the reply they made on their visitor messages?

Anyone? Its really sad how there are NO notifications in vb4!

You should be getting a notification back. On vbulletin.com, which is a default install, the notification box is always highlighted for me.

They should be replying on your profile (by clicking "view conversation"). There is no visitor message "reply" button so there's no other way for them to direct the reply to you.

I get notifications for my own stuff. I want notifications for my friends messages not mine. So let's say I post a message on THEIR message wall and they answer me back on their message wall I do not get a notification of it so I can answer them. As a result they will think I'm ignoring them but I'm not. So if I have them added as a friend on my profile I would like to get a notification when they answer me on their profile.

I understand what you want, I'm just saying that it doesn't work that way. It's not that notifications for visitor messages aren't implemented, it's that you're not using them in the way that was intended. For instance, if you post a visitor message for someone, then someone else posts for that same user, how do they reply to you? There is no "reply".

Sorry but you still do not understand what I'm talking about. I'm talking about something like facebook. You have a profile and people post on your page, you always get a notification and when they answer you on your wall you get a notification. Not being able to see if anyone answered you and going through hundreds of members walls to see if there are answers is just ridiculous. And would take too long. At this point I'm guessing there is nothing like this to work with vb.
