Ability to subscribe another member to their own single thread?

The forum is setup up to auto-subscribe members to their new threads. However, when using this mod, the original thread starter is the one who stays subscribed. (If a mod/admin usergroup makes the post, no auto-subscribe is made, as that group is not set to auto.)

I'd like to find a way to subscribe the new owner to their own thread -- without manual MySQL queries each time. That way I can create a new thread in a special subforum (only mod/admin users can create new threads), and the member will be alerted to it when it receives replies.

Is there any mod (plugins/products) that does this?

Right now I have to PM or email the person manually, instructing them to click a subscribe link.
