Keep users post counter

Hello
Everytime I delete a thread on the forum the post are discounted from the counters of the users that participate in this thread.
Now I need to delete a lot of threads in the forum (around 18.000) and users will lost a lot of messages, ranks and some permissions based on number of post.

It's possible to mantain the number of post for every user (and forum total post and threads will be good too) when you delete threads? How can I do it? I'm sure when I used phpbb some years ago that deleting threads or messages don't affect post count, I can't understand why I can't change this in vbulletin, specially when you can create different usergroups based on post.

Thanks!

You could make a trash can forum and move the threads to there. Make it closed to the public but have the posts/threads count

Yes, this it's what I have but I need to delete everything there because we have a large, large database and want to save some space.

Ok so now we have the reason why. Let's persue another idea. Where are your images stored? DB or file system?

The images I think are stored on DB... I never change this option and I don't see any image stored on the server, just the ones I uploaded with the forum package. I don't know how to change it...

BACK UP YOUR DATABASE FIRST!!!

Anyone find the answer to the original question?
I have the same issue. I have a database I need to shrink down. Our attachments have been stored in filesystem all along. I have to delete around 15,000 posts without users screaming about lost post count. I have already moved all the posts I wanted to a non-public "Trash" forum. I just need to physically remove them without it affecting post count.

Bigger/Better DB host?

Short of that I really don't think you can do much with post counts because its a tallied count. TBH, if something is over a year old it probably doesn't need to be kept and people who whine over post counts need to probably re-evaluate their life.
