2 sitemaps in google webmaster

hi,

at this moment i have 2 sitemaps in google webmaster.

the sitemaps have the same urls i think, because they count both the same urls

sitemaps:

/sitemap_forum_1.xml.gz 7549 urls indexed

/sitemap_index.xml.gz 7549 urls indexed

the first one is a sitemap (type) and other one is an index type. Is this correct, or do i need only one sitemap? and is this bad for seo?
