Automatic Group based on email
 

I'm looking for a hack/mod/addon that will allow new registered users to be automatically put in a specific usergroup based on their email address or email domain.

for example:

user1@hotmail.com --> hotmail_group
user5@aol.com --> aol_group
user9@gmail.com --> google_group (no pun intended),

I've seen a few for the 3.x forums, and only seen a few votes, and alot of questions, but no replies.

I'm looking for something that works for 4.x

if you guys (or gals) could point me in the right direction. That would be fantastic and greatly appreciated.

Someone requested this a while back so I made some changes to one of the existing mods (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=188684) to allow multiple domains/usergroups. I got permission from the mod author to post my changes in the mod thread, but I never did (until today). Note that my modified version hasn't been tested very much, but does seem to work with vb4 (as does the original mod, according to someone who posted in the thread).
