Basically, everytime "firefly" is mentioned in a post, it will send me an e-mail, kinda like for subscribed threads.
I think this could be good, like calling someone:
"Yo eva2000, I know you're good with servers, can you take a look here". (LOL, maybe he'll see this ;))
Instead of PMing the member.

So what do you think of this?
Should I go ahead and do this?
Would you find it useful?

Lemme know. :)

Well, in theory it sounds good. If you could make it so it would only send one email and not keep sending emails till they log on agian that would be nice. Or maybe a seperate screen in the USER CP that would have a list of threads the user was mentioned in.

A couple of things to think of..

1) Make sure that it does not include the "QUOTE" part of the message.
2) Try to limit the amount of emails the user could get. If it was a moderator on a board or a very active member, they could be involved in a ton of posts and get their name mentioned.

I had more, but I can't think of it right, now.. :D

Of course users will have the option to turn this feature on / off in their user cp.
Ignoring anything between

and
could also be done.

Great idea...

I'll be keeping my eyes on this thread.

my friend has the nick "ok" .
each time someone will say ok he'll be emailed ? :\

Admin 09-05-2001 05:42 PM

Then your friend will be able to turn this option off in his options.

But then some people are at a disadvantage. I think that perhaps a "user" tag could be a solution
like [ user ]FireFly[ / user ] And then it would be picked up by the script. a little more tedious, but more secure.

Make it an opt-in feature. Defaults as off. Personally, I was thinking of changing my username to "off" :)

Yeah I think I gave up on this as it's too hard to check 17,000 usernames against a post.
