EMERGENCY help needed. Restore threads from backup possible?

Hi,

Somehow (long story) the threads from two forums (about 5000 post) got deleted and now my question is if it's possible to get those threads back from a backup.

Or do you guys suggest to restore the backup and lose the posts of the past 5 days?

I hope someone can give me an honest answer.
