Why is this so D#^N difficult??

Hi All,

I just upgraded from vB 3.8 to vB 4.1.7 and I need to get my column of ads back on the left side.

Seven Skins has a post here with a download that might work, but I'm lost on the first step-"Import the Product". https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ide+ads+column

Now without doing a government sponsored $45 million dollar study, I'd be willing to bet that most of the people who buy vB and run a forum are not formally trained experts in computer coding! I'm not. I taught myself enough to publish a website and host a forum because for my interest there was no other forum out there.

I can not find a single thread on here or on vbulletin.com that can explain to non-expert how to make a 150 pixel wide column on the left side of vB4.

Can one of you experts do this? Why can a person not make a post like this...

To Add an Ad Column on Left Side:

From AdminCP, click here, then click here, then here, now insert this code XXX above the line that says XXXX.

Does it really need to be any more difficult than that? Maybe it does! Crap!

So please...can someone tell me, a guy that didn't study computer programing in college, how to add a column on the left side of my forum so I can get my paid ads back up?

Thank you!!!

My forums are here www.ransclan.com/forums

Finally, if it is not possible to explain how to do this, how do I find a trusted professional to do it for me? Are there 'For Hire' coders here??

I appreciate the fact that it's frustrating sometimes just trying to do something that seems like it should be simple. I don't know anything about side columns, but "import the product" isn't something you should be stuck on if you've installed mods before. Just go to the adminCP Plugins & Products > Manage Products and click on the "Add/Import Product" link that's under the list of installed products.

Adding a column isn't quite as easy as you are stating. I can think of many different forum configurations that would have a column on the side and all would require modifying different templates and writing different CSS to do it.

Yes, there is a forum for hiring coders - Requests For Paid Services Please read the notices at the top before posting and/or hiring.

Thank you both!

kh99-I didn't not know that! I've never installed mods before. I have a stock forum and all I have done is change the colors.

Lynne-thanks for the link to hired help!
