Query? Edit all posts in a thread.

Hi all. I need a way to remove all mentions of a certain BB CODE in a thread. One thread on my forum has been spammed with [mention]s and got up to around 30k replies before it was closed so I can't edit that many posts manually. How can I do this? Thanks.

Edit: I've now just been told that I need a query to do it, however my knowledge is pretty limited. What would be an easy way to edit all these posts using a query? I'm fine with just replacing all the posts with a defined word or something. It's just sent our mention stats a bit off is all.

Bumping this, please?

I'm not sure I understand what you want to do (probably because I don't know what "mention" is). Do you want to remove all of a bbcode? Maybe you could redefine it as blank. Or you want it to keep working but remove all existing instances?

It's part of this mod. I want to keep it working, but remove all uses of it in a single thread without having to edit 30k+ posts manually. As a worst case scenario, I'm fine with just changing every post to say the same thing.

Hmm...I don't know how that works exactly. I think you'd be better off discussing that in the mod thread or on their forum. I see they said there's no way to do it at the moment and they might add it later, but if you ask they may be able to suggest an sql query or a php script to remove them.

Edit: ...or if you can get them to explain exactly what needs to be done, I (or someone here) can probably write a query or script for you.
