vB.org spam

Whats up with all the spam getting posted here? This site, of all sites should be able to block the spam. This is a vbulletin mod site.... I don't think allowing as many spammers here looks good for those looking to buy vbulletin.... I get no spam on any of my sites, with the help of addons from here. Maybe vb.org needs to use one of the many addons to stop the spam....just sayin'

We have customers from all over the world. I for one would rather do a little clean-up of spam later then block even one legitimate customer from access.

Non-licensed users only have access to Presales questions, the lounge, and site feedback so spam isn't really an issue in the mod threads or support forums.

Thanks for your reply.
I knew the forums Non-licensed users have access to, but figured there would be a way to combat spam. But, no matter what spam prevention program is added, it would block a few legitimate customer from access & that would be a bad thing.. catch 22

I did block a couple of IPs this morning because they keep coming up and Paul has added more words to our spam filter to moderate those posts. Luckily, Paul has written us a script that makes cleaning spam up very easy with just a click of a button. So, when a mod gets online and sees it, we do clean it up pretty quickly.

Yep Lynne the staff here does clean out the spam post quickly. I have reported many over time, though you all will see them even if I didn't report them.

Unfortunately, they have a unique IP that hasn't been used for spamming before.

Please dont block IP addresses. It is completely useless and hurts genuine users. The spammers dont use static I.P's. They use dynamic I.P's. When some non spammer uses that I.P then they too will be blocked.

There have been times when I have gone to some sites only to be blocked because my I.P has previously been used by some spammer. It's my loss and the sites loss as well.

Sometimes it's the only option available when activity from that IP is constant, a shame it comes to that though.
