Is it possible to have different coloured body backgrounds for different parts of a site..

like say black for the front cms page white for the main forum and if so how do i do it ...thanks:)

Yes but with a plugin would be the easiest way.

Or you can create a package of different skins, let's say one main template, and two child ones, the first will contain all the customizations and will be used in the homepage, the second one (child) will go for the forums but since it's a child will work the same like the main skin, and you can edit it with a different background color just for the forums. Since I guess you're using the vBCMS you can assign that template to the CMS (the main one) and the other to the forums.
