Edit or Update Friendly URL. How?
Forums appear to be assigned a friendly URL [based on the forum id and title] when they are first created.. Now I have two questions:
1. I do not plan on running too many forums and would like them have friendly URLs without the forum ID prefix; is there an effective way to go about this within vB or would it have to be a custom htaccess redirect? 2. I created one forum and changed its title afterwards. How do I force the friendly URL to update with the new title? Many thanks.. Chris |
1. "Advanced Friendly URLs" is the closest you can get without worrying about mod-rewrite rules and htaccess.
2. It usually does change, at least it does for me... however everything after the number is basically ignored anyway. |

If an indexed number must appear in the friendly URL it would be good if it were selectable; a cosmetic ID, not based on the database table key but another numeric index. For me at least this would bring extra order to URLs and make them meaningful enough to be fully friendly. Just a thought. |
