How to stop a group of users reporting messages?

We have couple of users on the forum who are driving the moderators mad when they get banned. They start reporting every message which they think should be dealt with. Is there anyway of stopping banned users reporting posts? Or any particular group of users? We also had users awaiting e-mail confirmation abusing the report post button.

Thank you

Of course, if they're banned they shouldn't be able to report posts anyway. But I guess you mean when they get back?

In our rules we include abusing the report-a-post function, so we would just extend their ban for doing it.

Edit: I forgot you mentioned Unregistered Users can also do this. Your mistake is allowing them to post. Turn off posting for Guests and they won't even see the report-a-post button.

We don't allow guests to post. There must be a box somewhere to tick which would stop banned users to report posts we just haven't figured out which one. It is not unregistered users but users awaiting e-mail confirmation who seem to be able to report the posts.

if i wrong please correct me.
physical address is static right? physical address doesn't change right?
i don't think is hard to made another option to block physical address.
i thought maybe users might have the same physical address, what are the odds?

I'm not sure what you're getting at with the static IP's, but members with unchanging IPs would be rare today.

I'm still not quite understanding how a banned user can read your forum, much less report a post. You've got some permissions set wrong for that group. AdminCP>Usergroups>Usergroup Manager>Banned Users>Edit Usergroup>Forum Viewing Permissions - all these should be set to "no". In fact in mine I don't see anything at all set to 'yes'.

i didn't mean ip, i mean "physical address" which doesn't change.

We don't see reasons to stop banned users reading the forum. Unregistered users can read a forum, why should banned users not be able to read? Forget about them. Users awaiting moderation can report posts, should we stop them from reading as well? There must be a box to tick somewhere which should disable report a post button for a particular group of users, we just haven't figured out which one.

I do, and this whole thread is about another. But more importantly you want to break this miscreant's addiction to the forum and give them a cooling down period. Neither of these will occur if they continue to read. Instead, they'll fume the whole time and come back with a vengeance.

So that's two reasons. Give me time I'll think of more.

Perfect! Installed it and our moderators are very happy. Does exactly what we needed.

Lots of thanks from them and myself :)
