What is/was the worst and/or the dumbest thing you've done to or on your site?

As for me, I'm REALLY glad I had a backup! lol

A few minutes ago (literally) I was in SSH deleting some rather large directories (it's faster than ftp) and slipped on typing one of them in and deleted my ENTIRE public_html directory :eek:

Oops lol

And THAT is why I use FTP or CPanel for that kind of stuff.

vb4, crushed a lot of our modifikations like dynamic game signatures, membermap, statistics center....
(to clarify that - we do not want to go back, vb4 is fine, we just think vb4 kinda is a "windows vista" and we should have waited for "windows 7" aka vb5)

second worst was not checking our backups on the ftp often enough. Turns out they were broken. We lost 2 or 3 months. Lucky our main techadmin is good enough. So he wrote a script which recreated a lot of the lost threads and posts by takeing them out of the google cache.

When i upgraded my live forum to 4.0.8, our custom skin got messed up & all my members went mad at me. Things were under control with in the next 30mins.

That's why it's always good to make any changes to your test site FIRST before applying them to your live site ;)

If you don't have a test site, I suggest making one. You can never go wrong with a test site :D

Glad to know I'm not the only one whose deleted my site on accident.

I could have sworn I posted here before. Guess I didn't hit the post button.
Anyway stupidest thing I ever did was crash my site 3 times. Twice in one day.
With some help from my sempai I was able to recover. Last time we had to reinstall the software and start from scratch. Since then I do routine backups of everything.
Tinker, tinker...damn Yo sempai!

Several times I have done something to run the server loads up incredibly high and crashed the server. Thankfully, I have very forgiving users. :)
