Crazy Downgrade Question...
 

ok...I know this may sound totally insane, but is there a way, to go from 4.1.5 to say....3.6.12? Without losing the members and the posts ect?

I know it's crazy/

Can't count how many times I have seen this very request here.... Makes me very glad I stayed with tried and true 3.8.x

Well...4 is really growing on me. It is actually quite powerful once you get into it.

I have 2 boards. My main board will never leave the 3 series. My second board is on 4 .1.5, about to be updated to 4.1.6.

I just wanna see if there is actually a way to downgrade without losing the posts/threads/members/etc...

I've seen the short answer: yes, but it's really difficult to do, there is no "uninstall" or "revert" in the software. And as far as I know, no one's really developed a set procedure.
I am yet to see any compelling reason to want 4, but seen alot of reason to stay far away from it. I'm a 4 hater, I distribute the haterade and the hater tots for it.

I wonder if I delete the extra "4" files...overwrite the regular files with the series 3 version files, make the correct changes to the config.php...that might work....

From what I read, you lose all your attachments.

Now, luckily this isn't my main board, it's more of a playground for some of us from my main board...it's all private....

BUT...

The attachments are the best part...lol...if you know what I mean....

(No perverts, it's not a porn forum....lol...jeez)

But there are some attachments that are kind of important...

idk...I'll run this my the members and see what they say...
