External attachment storage

Hey guys,
I've searched the forums about this question, but I've only managed to find some old thread where members mentioned that "Erwin" modified vBulletin's attachment system to upload/serve attachments on a different server.

But he disabled private messaging here, so there's no way I can contact him.

Anyone have an idea how to do this? Sounds pretty complicated to me, so I have no idea where should I start, lol...
