Opinions and questions
I'm about to move from 4.0.8 to 4.1.5. I see a ton of different versions, hooks modifications, code modifications, etc. over the life of this mod (an a very cool mod it is).
I'm wondering: would it be better/easier during my upgrade to simply uninstall this and install the newest version? I see from here that this means losing high scores and such, which is a sacrifice I'm willing to make as a last resort, though I wonder if there's some way to uninstall and/or overwrite while keeping the dbase of scores and such intact. Just trying to "think forward" and plan what all I need to do for this upgrade. Thanks. Edit: Disregard. Given Mr. Zeropage's recommendation here, I'm going to go ahead and overwrite what I have to avoid any potential security issues. |
I've generally never seen a situation where you would uninstall/reinstall a modification rather then simply doing an upgrade as a better option. Only in the case where the developer says you should. Otherwise, you should always just upgrade. Developers will account for any issues in their Read Me files, not to mention any instructions that would be important.
