vb.org Archive - Adsense just doesn't seem to work right...

I have 3.8.6 site that is specific to outdoor sports (hunting, fishing, etc...). All of the discussion topics are related to the outdoors. However, the adsense ads just never seem to really match the topics. I MOST often (99%) get the "generic" ads as if adsense isn't reading the page. Rarely do I seen an ad that is on point. When I do, I look for a pattern/keywords/other that would be the reason why and I can't seem to find one.

I am using VBadvaced, wrapping VB with VBadvanced. I have two modules created for two different sized Google ads, neither is on point. Adsense has been installed since late 2010 and there have been no changes to the website since then.

Any suggestions?
