User selectable postbit

I'd like my users to be able to select whether they want the default or legacy postbit.

The closest I could find to it was this: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...-a-User-Option

But that is from an older version of VB and no longer works.

Anyone know how to do it for 3.8?
