Upgrade questions

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,

I've been contemplating to upgrade my board to the latest version...and also applying the security patch.

Currently, I'm running 4.1.0 patch level 2...

My concern is with website structure.
I want to know, if I update, will everything go back to Vb default settings, and default layout?!

I have customized various objects, so will the site change?
(these include vbulletin.css, forumdisplay.css, forumhome.css, etc.) --- SEE ATTACHMENT

If so, is there anyway (after the upgrade) to have everything revert back to how my site looks like now?

Let me know...
Thank you all.

P.S, I downloaded the customized style (.xml file w/ child settings)...so after I update, can I just upload that style and be set to go???

I'd like to know this too.

bump.

Also, Vb is reporting an SQL error periodically....with regard to cartplog.php
I use Magento for my shop, so are the files related? or cartplog was most likely installed/uninstalled?
So can I just delete it and get the error over with?!

Kharam, why don't you create yourself a test site and apply the update there and test the functionality of your website.

If you are using a style that is not the default one It's 100% sure it will be exactly as it is after the upgrade, but If you made changes to the default one then I don't really know what to tell you, I've never used the default vb style for my forum or even made changes to it ( on vb 4.x ). However, I would recommend you to upgrade your forum since the new patches fix some security issues from the older version.

So, I recommend you to do the following:

1.- backup all your forum FTP files
2.- backup your forum's database.
3.- upgrade.

If the upgrade doesn't goes as you expected you can then restore your database and re-upload the backup FTP files.

Good Luck !
